The Beginning
A Gift with Purpose
Dec was born deaf. As a child, his family began to notice the small ways he adapted to the world around him. When his mother spoke, he would gently turn her head toward him so he could read her lips. Hearing aids became part of his life from an early age, but they were never something he felt comfortable with. Instead of pride, they often brought a sense of embarrassment.
Years later, while studying Chemistry at Edinburgh University, Dec discovered another passion, entrepreneurship. It was at the university’s Entrepreneurship Society that he met Daniela, a Romanian jewellery designer who was as devoted to her craft as he was to building ideas. Their connection grew into love, and over time Daniela came to understand the weight Dec carried in how he felt about his hearing aids.
On his birthday, three years into their relationship, Daniela created a gift that would change everything. Using her training in fine jewellery, she designed a hearing aid cover unlike anything Dec had ever seen before. For the first time, his hearing aids were not just medical devices; they were transformed into something beautiful, personal, and full of meaning.

the craft
Luxury Meets Meaning
Since the age of 13, Daniela would rush home from school in Romania, not to do homework but to make jewellery every single day for friends and family. Even then she knew this was more than a hobby, it was her life’s calling.
Her passion led her to study Jewellery Design at Edinburgh University in Scotland. Summers were spent in San Diego, where from the age of 8 she took jewellery courses, always the youngest in the room by decades, honing skills that would one day define her career.
Over the past 14 years Daniela has immersed herself in the world of fine jewellery, goldsmithing, and gemstones. A GIA certified gemologist, she has worked with leading jewellery houses as well as within the diamond sourcing and trading world, building a foundation of expertise and artistry.
Now 27, Daniela has found her true calling with Auzi, bringing the elegance and craftsmanship of fine jewellery into assistive devices.
At Auzi we believe functional objects deserve the same artistry as a ring or necklace, pieces that spark joy, pride, and beauty in everyday life.
